ORGANOMETALLIC COMPOUNDS |
Index. décimale : |
B-D |
Résumé : |
"This book presents an integrated view of the organometallic chemistry of transition and non-transition elements. Early chapters deal with the basic principles, preparation and structure of organometallic compounds. Subsequent chapters discuss the reactivity of these compounds and the applications of organometallic compounds as stoichiometric reagents and catalysts. The text is comprehensively referenced throughout and is also a guide to organometallic literature, increasing its usefulness to all those involved in the study or teaching of this increasingly important branch of undergraduate chemistry." |

THERMODYNAMICS |
Index. décimale : |
B-A |
Résumé : |
"A further volume in the new series Topics in Physics and Chemistry, this book provides an introductory course in chemical thermodynamics which builds upon ideas already acquired in elementary, physics and chemistry and sets problems which depend upon consultation of authoritative works in the library. Chemical potentials are introduced at the beginning of the book, and enough background is given to lead to an early appreciation of the statistical treatment of entropy. Subtleties of definition and questions of rigour are avoided since the author believes them to be bewildering to the average student at the beginning, and points out that they can always be followed up in standard works at a later stage." |
Note de contenu : |
"* Measurement of the tendency to change
* The chemical potential of a gas and its partial pressure
* Heat, work and energy
* Energy is not enough
* Entropy
* Some useful equations
* Chemical potentials in solution
* Phase equilibrium
* E.m.f. and the free energies of ions in solution
* Thermodynamics and kinetics" |
