These descriptions are backed up by separate mathematical explanations for those who wish to gain a more sophisticated quantitative understanding of the phenomena. With additional coverage of the practical implementation of solid-state NMR experiments integrated into the discussion, this book will be essential reading for all those using, or about to use, solid-state NMR spectroscopy." Titre : Introduction to solid state physics Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Charles Kittel Mention d'édition : Eighth edition Editeur : New York : Wiley Année de publication : 2005 Importance : xix, 680 p. Présentation : ill. Format : 25 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-471-41526-8 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Technologies, Méthodes, Réactions Tags : SOLID STATE PHYSICS Index. décimale : B-B Résumé : "Since the publication of the first edition over 50 years ago, Introduction to Solid State Physics has been the standard solid state physics text for physics students. The author's goal from the beginning has been to write a book that is accessible to undergraduates and consistently teachable. The emphasis in the book has always been on physics rather than formal mathematics. With each new edition, the author has attempted to add important new developments in the field without sacrificing the book's accessibility and teachability.
* A very important chapter on nanophysics has been written by an active worker in the field. This field is the liveliest addition to solid state science during the past ten years
* The text uses the simplifications made possible by the wide availability of computer technology. Searches using keywords on a search engine (such as Google) easily generate many fresh and useful references."Cote : B-B179 (SdS) Num_Inv : 3086 Introduction to solid state physics [texte imprimé] / Charles Kittel . - Eighth edition . - New York : Wiley, 2005 . - xix, 680 p. : ill. ; 25 cm.

Titre : Introduction to stereochemistry Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Mislow, K. Editeur : Menlo Park - California : Benjamin-Cummings Publishing Co. Année de publication : 1965 Collection : The organic chemistry monograph series Importance : xii, 193 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-8053-7101-7 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Technologies, Méthodes, Réactions Tags : STEREOCHEMISTRY Résumé : "The book is divided into three parts of approximately equal length. The first treats, under the heading of Structure and symmetry, the nature of the relationship between bonding geometries, hybridization, and molecular deformation. This is followed by an introduction to symmetry elements and point groups as they apply to molecular geometry. The author demonstrates here, as in the remainder of the book, a sensitivity to the student's need for careful and explicit definition of all terms(…).
The second section, titled Stereoisamerism, is in my judgment the most rewarding of the three. The author has adopted a somewhat different (hut in no sense radical) classification method for stereoisomers which permits a natural inclusion of those consequences of conformational isomerism that have been recognized during the past 20 years. New terminology appears wisely introduced and general use is made of the symmetry elements introduced in the first section.
The final section concerns itself with separation and configurational identification of stereoisomers. The classical separation techniques are treated briefly and followed by an excellent presentation of asymmetric synthesis and kinetic resolution. The concluding discussion is concerned with the determination of absolute and relative configuration by chemical and (at more length) physical methods. Each section is followed by about 20 questions and problems which "are designed not only to test understanding but to advance the student beyond the descriptive material." They are of a nature which should fulfill this goal. Answers to all exercices are provided …”Cote : B-B025 (SdS) Num_Inv : 156 Introduction to stereochemistry [texte imprimé] / Mislow, K. . - Menlo Park - California : Benjamin-Cummings Publishing Co., 1965 . - xii, 193 p.. - (The organic chemistry monograph series) .

ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-90-277-0234-0 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Technologies, Méthodes, Réactions Tags : MOLECULAR THEORY SPECTROSCOPY Résumé : "This book is written particularly for chemists. Being one myself, I have on several occasions tried to find a book where the theory of molecular Raman spectroscopy is treated, and not being able to find one which satisfactorily answered the questions I wanted to see answered, I decided to try to write a book on it myself. Back in the middle fifties I was shown a Raman spectrum for the first time: some faint lines on a photographic plate. In the fall of 1971, during a visit to Moscow, I vividly remembered that spectrum when the son of Mandel'shtam showed me the first spectrum taken in Russia by his father and Landsberg in 1928. The spectrum of quartz photographed during January and February of that year showed the presence of some faint new lines and in later exposures these lines became stronger and stronger."
