Prospects for antisense nucleic acid therapy of cancer and AIDS / Eric Wickstrom
Titre : Prospects for antisense nucleic acid therapy of cancer and AIDS Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Eric Wickstrom, Éditeur scientifique Editeur : New York : John Wiley & Sons Année de publication : 1991 Importance : xiv, 269 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-471-56880-3 Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : CANCER DRUG THERAPY ANTISENSE NUCLEIC ACIDS-Therapeutic use CANCER-Genetic aspects AIDS-Genetic aspects Index. décimale : EQ -Equipe- Résumé : "This study is designed to inform clinical investigators and biomedical researchers of the range of possible applications of a new technology which involves a direct genetic approach to the treatment of disease using nucleic acid therapeutics. These new DNA and RNA agents are intended to stop the growth of cancerous cells or to halt the production of HIV infected cells. The book details the rapid progress of this new technology from its theoretical stage to its current position at the verge of experimental clinical applications with provocative discussions of the therapeutic implications of the basic research." Titre : Cancer chemotherapy reports. Part 2, vol.4 n°2 : Structure antitumor activity relationships among quinone derivatives Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : John S. Driscoll ; George F. Hazard ; Harry B. Wood, Éditeur scientifique ; Abraham Goldin, Éditeur scientifique Editeur : Bethesda : National Institute of Health Année de publication : 1974 Importance : 363 p. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Biochimie Tags : CANCER DRUG THERAPY QUINONES-Therapeutic use Index. décimale : B-F Résumé : "This report is part of a continuing effort by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to summarize animal antitumor screening data for selected classes of compounds and to relate this activity to chemical structure. Nucleoside, folic acid, and methanesulfonate derivatives have been treated previously. Quinones play significant roles in many areas of chemistry and biochemistry and many derivatives have been synthesized for study. Because of their availability and the biologic properties known to be associated with the quinone structure, a large number of these compounds have been screened over the past 17 years in the NCI's Drug Research and Development program aimed at the discovery of leads to new classes of antitumor drugs. This report is a summary and an analysis of animal antitumor data for the quinone derivatives evaluated by the NCI. While general structure activity relationships and conclusions are drawn, more detailed analyses (both qualitative and quantitative) are possible. It is hoped that this review will be useful to investigators who are interested in further studies of antitumor agents in general and quinone derivatives in particular."
