The first five chapters are intended for first year students, since we feel that an early grasp of such concepts as the orbital and the electron-pair bond are necessary for any course in experimental chemistry. The more formal mathematical aspects of the book start in chapter 6 when it has been assumed that the student has received some mathematical training during his first year.
