It uniquely offers numerous, real-world examples and case studies that aid working R&D researchers as well as Ph.D. and postdoc students preparing to ace interviews in order to enter the workforce. Edited by two world-leading and established industrial chemists, the book covers flow chemistry (catalytic and non-catalytic organometallic chemistry), various cross-coupling reactions (C-C, C-N, and C-B) in classical batch chemistry, conjugate addition reactions, metathesis, and C-H arylation and achiral hydrogenation reactions.
Beginning with an overview of the many industrial milestones within the field over the years, Organometallic Chemistry in Industry: A Practical Approach provides chapters covering: the design, development, and execution of a continuous flow enabled API manufacturing route; continuous manufacturing as an enabling technology for low temperature organometallic chemistry; the development of a nickel-catalyzed enantioselective Mizoroki-Heck coupling; and the development of iron-catalyzed Kumada cross-coupling for the large scale production of Aliskiren intermediates. The book also examines aspects of homogeneous hydrogenation from industrial research; the latest industrial uses of olefin metathesis; and more.Note de contenu : "* Industrial Milestones in Organometallic Chemistry

Titre : Homogeneous transition-metal catalysis : a gentle art Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Christopher Masters Editeur : London : Chapman and Hall Année de publication : 1981 Collection : Science paperbacks num. 169 Importance : x, 277 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-412-22120-0 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Chimie de coordination, Chimie organométallique, Métaux de transition Tags : TRANSITION METAL COMPOUNDS CATALYSIS CHEMISTRY-Industrial applications Résumé : "Soluble catalysts are used extensively in many branches of chemistry and are indeed a vital constituent of many natural processes. They find wide application throughout the chemical industry where they assist in the production of several million tonnes of chemicals each year. Since homogeneous systems, especially those incorporating transition metals, often function effectively under milder conditions than their heterogeneous counterparts, they are becoming increasingly important at a time when the chemical industry in particular, and society in general, is seeking ways of conserving energy and of making the best possible use of available resources. My principal objective in- writing this book is to engender sufficient enthusiasm for, and knowledge of, the subject in the reader that he or she will be encouraged to begin, or continue, to make their own contribution to advancing our knowledge of homogeneous catalysis. After attempting to acquaint the reader with some of the ground rules I have tried to describe the present scope, and the future potential, of this fascinating field of chemistry by drawing both on academic and on industrial data sources. This approach stems from a personal conviction that future progress could be considerably hastened by a more meaningful dialogue between chemists working both in industrial and in academic research institutions. Wherever possible, examples of the commercial application of homogeneous catalyst systems have been included and no attempt has been made in any way to disguise the many unresolved questions and exciting challenges which still pervade this rapidly developing area." Titre : The chemical process industries Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Shreve, Randolph, Norris, Auteur Editeur : New York : Mc-Graw Hill Année de publication : 1956 Collection : McGraw-Hill chemical engineering series Importance : xvi, 1004 p. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Chimie : Généralités Tags : CHEMISTRY-Industrial applications CHEMISTRY-Technical Index. décimale : B-A Résumé : “… A truly amazing amount of highly condensed information has been packed into the 39 chapters, which would be very valuable to anyone who wishes to obtain a good resumé of any particular process industry. Since the treatment had to be brief in every case, the author has provided at the end of each chapter an excellent list of references for those who wish to delve more deeply into each field. Another useful feature is a collection of short, relatively simple problems at the end of a number of the chapters. The place for such a book as a textbook for beginning students of chemical engineering is a debatable one and depends on one's philosophy of chemical engineering education. Some teachers, including the present reviewer, do not see the value in presenting the student with such a large amount of descriptive information, but prefer to devote most of the very limited amount of time available for chemical engineering in the undergraduate curriculum, to applications which more directly and quantitatively illustrate and develop fundamental principles. However, many schools believe strongly in a largely descriptive course in the industrial processes, and for use in such a course Dr. Shreve's hook is one of the best the reviewer has seen. In covering so broad a field, the author has perforce been obliged to treat a good many subjects in which his own experience is quite limited, and small errors are bound to creep in which would be noticed only by the expert in a given field. On the whole the book seems to be quite accurate and free from major errors which could very easily be made in a book covering such a subject.” Cote : B-A068 Num_Inv : 68 The chemical process industries [texte imprimé] / Shreve, Randolph, Norris, Auteur . - New York : Mc-Graw Hill, 1956 . - xvi, 1004 p.. - (McGraw-Hill chemical engineering series) .
