- Second edition . - Paris : Dunod, 2010 . - x, 546 p. : ill. ; 25 cm. - (Sciences Sup, ISSN 1636-2217) .

Titre : Colour and the optical properties of materials Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Richard J. D. Tilley, Auteur Editeur : Oxford : Wiley Année de publication : 2020 Importance : xiv, 608 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-119-55469-1 Note générale : The revised third edition of Colour and the Optical Properties of Materials focuses on the ways that colour is produced, both in the natural world and in a wide range of applications. The expert author offers an introduction to the science underlying colour and optics and explores many of the most recent applications. The text is divided into three main sections: behaviour of light in homogeneous media, which can largely be explained by classical wave optics; the way in which light interacts with atoms or molecules, which must be explained mainly in terms of photons; and the interaction of light with insulators, semiconductors and metals, in which the band structure notions are of primary concern. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Matériaux Tags : MATERIALS Index. décimale : EQ - Equipe Résumé : The updated third edition retains the proven concepts outlined in the previous editions and contains information on the significant developments in the field with many figures redrawn and new material added. The text contains new or extended sections on photonic crystals, holograms, flat lenses, super-resolution optical microscopy and modern display technologies. This important book:
Offers an introduction to the science that underlies the everyday concept of colour
Reviews the cross disciplinary subjects of physics, chemistry, biology and materials science, to link light, colour and perception
Includes information on many modern applications, such as the numerous different colour displays now available, optical amplifiers lasers, super-resolution optical microscopy and lighting including LEDs and OLEDs
Contains new sections on photonic crystals, holograms, flat lenses, super-resolution optical microscopy and display technologies
Presents many worked examples, with problems and exercises at the end of each chapterNote de contenu : "* Light and Colour
* Colour Due to Refraction and Dispersion
* The Production of Colour by Reflection
* Polarised Light and Crystals
* Colour Due to Scattering
* Colour Due to Diffraction
* Colour from Atoms and Ions
* Colour from Molecules
* Luminescence
* Colour in Insulators, Semiconductors, and Metals".Cote : EQUIPE Num_Inv : 944 Localisation : EQ. P Colour and the optical properties of materials [texte imprimé] / Richard J. D. Tilley, Auteur . - Oxford : Wiley, 2020 . - xiv, 608 p.

Titre : Electronic materials science Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Eugene A. Irene, Éditeur scientifique Editeur : New York : Wiley Année de publication : 2005 Importance : xiii, 306 p. Format : 25 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-471-69597-4 Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : MATERIALS ELECTRONIC-Materials Index. décimale : EQ -Equipe- Résumé : "A thorough introduction to fundamental principles and applications
From its beginnings in metallurgy and ceramics, materials science now encompasses such high- tech fields as microelectronics, polymers, biomaterials, and nanotechnology. Electronic Materials Science presents the fundamentals of the subject in a detailed fashion for a multidisciplinary audience. Offering a higher-level treatment than an undergraduate textbook provides, this text benefits students and practitioners not only in electronics and optical materials science, but also in additional cutting-edge fields like polymers and biomaterials.
Readers with a basic understanding of physical chemistry or physics will appreciate the text's sophisticated presentation of today's materials science. Instructive derivations of important formulae, usually omitted in an introductory text, are included here. This feature offers a useful glimpse into the foundations of how the discipline understands such topics as defects, phase equilibria, and mechanical properties. Additionally, concepts such as reciprocal space, electron energy band theory, and thermodynamics enter the discussion earlier and in a more robust fashion than in other texts.
Electronic Materials Science also features:
* An orientation towards industry and academia drawn from the author's experience in both arenas
* Information on applications in semiconductors, optoelectronics, photocells, and nanoelectronics
* Problem sets and important references throughout
* Flexibility for various pedagogical needs
Treating the subject with more depth than any other introductory text, Electronic Materials Science prepares graduate and upper-level undergraduate students for advanced topics in the discipline and gives scientists in associated disciplines a clear review of the field and its leading technologies."Cote : LCC/L Num_Inv : 2861 Electronic materials science [texte imprimé] / Eugene A. Titre : Electronic properties of materials Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Rolf E. Hummel Mention d'édition : Fourth edition Editeur : New York : Springer Année de publication : 2011 Importance : xix, 488 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-4419-8163-9 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Matériaux Tags : MATERIALS ELECTRONIC-Materials Index. décimale : B-G Résumé : "This book on electrical, optical, magnetic, and thermal properties of materials differs from other introductory texts in solid-state physics. First, it is written for engineers, particularly materials and electrical engineers, who what to gain a fundamental understanding of semiconductor devices, magnetic materials, lasers, alloys, and so forth. Second, it stresses concepts rather than mathematical formalism, which should make the presentation relatively easy to read. Third, it is not an encyclopedia: The topics are restricted to material considered to be essential and that can be covered in one 15-week semester.
The book is divided into five parts. The first part, "Fundamentals of Electron Theory," introduces the essential quantum mechanical concepts needed for understanding materials science; the other parts may be read independently of each other. Many practical applications are discussed to provide students with an understanding of electronic devices currently in use. The solutions to the numerical problems are given in the appendix."Cote : B-G036 (SdS) Num_Inv : 3372 Electronic properties of materials [texte imprimé] / Rolf E.
